I disacree with the creation of the Yashin trophee. It means that, considering they'll have their own prize, goalkeepers will therefore be excluded from winning the Ballon d'Or. I guess they'll do the same for defenders and midfielders, and so the greatest prize will follow its natural course of only include forwards.

The first South American to win the Ballon d'Or was Di Stefano (Argentinean) in 1956. The second one was Sivori, Argentinean too, in 1961

The award is a bit BS because before the Bosman ruling south American football was equal or superior vs Europe. So the criteria of having to play in Europe to win it made no sense. Even worse, you were not elegible if you weren't European before 1995 for some reason…
Take this example: Oleg blocking? Please… In the 70s there were better players a dime a dozen in south America.

it is not what people think, it's an agenda trophy, FIFA best is the real official football trophy, that's why Lewandowski won it a year ago back to back, because it is objective and true with the result.

Messi and Ronaldo have been given this award and at times been undeserving. however the organisers know for PR purposes those two have bolstered its importance way above other awards and in the general public consciousness. so they’ve ended up with it a ridiculous amount of times. some of those years madrid won the champions league Ronaldo was not the best player in the team
Unpopular opinion but I thought Salah should've won it in 2018 not modric. Aside from the regular best player in the world Messi. I thought salah was the most in form player in the world in 2018. Not just at the world cup like modric.

That's how Ronaldo won it four times, that Champions League title makes them the favourites to win the award. Also I feel like they don't like Bayern players, remember Ribery in 2013 and Lewandowski in 2020.

Why is it called the Ballon d'Or in English? The World Cup is also founded and organized by a French institution but we don't refer to as the "Coupe du Monde" in English.
